Hamakua Hotspots

Above the old plantation town of Pa’auilo, Kalopa State Park’s lush forest and cool fresh air (elevation 2000) can be enjoyed by walking the easy 1 mile loop trail. Many of the plants along the trail are labeled with the plant’s names. Other more challenging trails begin at the park. The park has picnic tables, restrooms, and cabins that are available for rent. Access the park via the strikingly beautiful drive form Hilo along the Hamakua coast.
