Hamakua Hotspots

Kolekole Beach Park located off Hwy 19 shortly after Honomu is situated at the mouth of a small, lushly forested Valley. The rocky beach and the river that runs through the park are favorites of local youth for swimming, surfing, and fishing. The river and ocean currents can be dangerous, especially during the winter or periods of heavy rain. The park, which is a great spot to stop for lunch on an around the island tour, has a large covered pavilion and restrooms that are located amongst beautiful tropical trees and foliage.
