Laupahoehoe Point Park

This beautiful oceanfront park features a wonderful picnic area complete with picnic benches, showers, and restrooms. The deep blue ocean, striking black lava shoreline and lush mountains of the surrounding area create a scene of intoxicating beauty. Located along the beautiful Hamakua Coast just off Highway 11, the park is the perfect spot for a picnic lunch.

The Hilo/Hamakua Coast offers excellent shoreline casting for variety of local fish including Ulua (Giant Trevali), Papio (Junior Travali), mullet, and a variety of reef fish. Spearfishing is also excellent in offshore waters but conditions can at times be dangerous so only experienced divers should enter the ocean for diving. Fishing and diving are favorite pastimes of local residents so you will be able to see lots of fishing action, and perhaps pick up a few tips, at the many excellent fishing spots along this coast such as, Kolekole, Laupahoehoe point, and Waipio Beach.
